The police had to get involved after the former gym trainer Ranjan M, 35, also known as Ranjith, assaulted numerous kids in Thyagarajanagar.

One parent revealed that Ranjan was about to hit a girl with his bike, hair-pulling of the boy, and elbowing another girl. Even the boy's mother took a video of the incident from the CCTV and submitted it to the authorities.

The 14th of December was marked as the day of the cruelest incident when a five-year-old boy playing badminton in Doddamavalli near Lalbagh was the victim. Ranjan kicked the boy in the face leaving him with an injured eyebrow and some scratches on his hands and feet. The boy was treated at the local hospital and the mother called the police on the same day.

The police stated that Ranjan appeared to be a person who was having mental issues and that he was undergoing psychiatry treatment at the moment. He was during the interrogation confessing to the fact that he had harmed a lot of children, but that he was also giving excuses for his actions by saying that he was annoyed and the noise of kids playing on the road was distracting him.

Despite the fact that he had never married and was not known to the police for any offences before, Ranjan was arrested but later on released on bail from the police station. Allegations are that Ranjan’s parents took him to Madurai for further treatment. The police still monitor his medical records and have warned the parents in that area to stay vigilant.
