Moon Sighting to Determine Eid Date
The UAE Moonsighting Committee is set to meet on Wednesday evening (March 18, 2026) to observe the crescent moon of Shawwal, which signals the conclusion of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid Al Fitr.
The session will take place after Maghrib prayers, with religious scholars, astronomers, and officials reviewing moon sighting reports from across the country.
Public Encouraged to Participate
The UAE Council for Fatwa has also urged residents to participate in moon sighting on the evening of March 18, which corresponds to the 29th day of Ramadan (1447 AH).
Verified sightings will play a key role in officially confirming the start of Shawwal.
Likely Eid Date Based on Astronomical Calculations
According to astronomical predictions, Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall on Friday, with Thursday expected to complete the 30th day of Ramadan.
However, the final decision will depend on the official moon sighting announcement.
