In the past quarter of a year, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has ordered the demolition of 439 illegal buildings. The government has pledged to keep cracking down on illegal buildings. Following established protocols, a zonal office-level special task force (STF) under the leadership of the zonal commissioner has been established with the mission of identifying and promptly removing any illegal structures or plans.

The designated ward town planner and NAC engineer upload details of any unauthorised constructions through the online applications module, and the STF identifies them. A show cause notice is issued at the circle level to the property owner, requesting an explanation, after verification has been completed, which includes scrutinising any sanction details that may be available.

After that, the department will review the owner's response and then issue a speaking order explaining why the proposed action is necessary and advising the owner to dismantle the unauthorised structure. If the owner does not comply, the department will take the appropriate action.
