Four Indian-origin entrepreneurs have earned spots on Forbes’ latest ‘40 Under 40’ list of the world’s richest self-made billionaires, with their combined net worth exceeding $11 billion. The annual list recognises 40 individuals who achieved billionaire status before turning 40.

Among them, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath stands out as the only India-based entrepreneur to feature on the prestigious ranking.

Ankur Jain Ranks 19th with $3.4 Billion Net Worth

Topping the Indian-origin names is Ankur Jain, ranked 19th, with an estimated net worth of $3.4 billion. The 35-year-old New York–based entrepreneur is the founder and CEO of Bilt Rewards, a home rental rewards platform currently valued at $10.8 billion by private investors.

Before launching Bilt, Jain co-founded Humin, a contact management app that was acquired by Tinder in 2016. A graduate of the Wharton School, Jain is the son of a former dotcom-era billionaire and is considered a prominent figure in the US tech startup ecosystem.

Nikhil Kamath Only Indian on the List

Ranked 20th, Nikhil Kamath, 39, has a net worth of $3.3 billion. He co-founded Bengaluru-based brokerage Zerodha in 2010 with his brother Nithin Kamath, who currently serves as CEO.

Zerodha was previously valued by Forbes at nearly $8 billion, cementing the Kamath brothers’ position among India’s most successful self-made entrepreneurs. In 2024, Nikhil Kamath expanded his public presence with the launch of his podcast, “WTF is.”

Youngest Billionaires: Mercor Founders Rank 27th

The 27th position on the list is jointly held by Adarsh Hiremath and Surya Midha, both aged 22, making them among the youngest billionaires ever featured by Forbes. Each is valued at approximately Rs 1,826 crore.

The duo co-founded Mercor, an AI-powered recruiting startup launched in 2023, along with partner Brendan Foody. Mercor works with major Silicon Valley AI labs to help scale AI model training.

Hiremath grew up in the Bay Area and pursued a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science. Midha, born in Mountain View and raised in San Jose, holds a bachelor’s degree in foreign studies from Georgetown University.
