Hyderabad Amazon founder and world's richest man, Jeff Bezos, tweeted a picture on Monday, featuring a 1999 cover story by American magazine Barron, which titled 'Amazon.bomb'. Bezos in the tweet quoted that, "Listen and be open, but don't let anybody tell you who you are."Bezos added that the story was just one of many that predicated Amazon's failure. "Today, Amazon is one of the world's most successful companies and has revolutionized two entirely different industries," he concluded.

The cover story stated that Amazon's stock price would come rolling down and added that the real winners of the Internet boom would be 'firms that sell their own products directly'. The story also dismisses Bezos as 'just another middleman', it read: "The idea that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has pioneered a new business paradigm is silly."

The tweet which went viral got a reply from Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX. Musk tweeted an emoji of 'silver medal' with number '2' written on it.

At present, the e-commerce giant is worth $1.7 trillion, and its success is inspiration to budding entrepreneurs. Last month, after surpassing Bezos as the world's richest person, Musk joked that he would be sending a 'giant statue of the digit '2' along with a silver medal' to Amazon founder. Bezos had crossed the magic figure of $200 billion last year as Amazon shares surged.
