The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation on Wednesday made its SwaRail mobile application available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems and quietly rolled out in recent months, SwaRail consolidates multiple railway services into one platform.
The app merges ticketing, freight tracking and customer support functions that once required separate downloads. Users can:
• Book reserved and unreserved tickets, including platform passes
• Track parcels and freight consignments
• Check train schedules and PNR status
• Order meals during travel
• Lodge and track complaints via Rail Madad
According to the Ministry of Railways, SwaRail integrates services currently scattered across different apps into a single interface to support navigation. One set of credentials grants access to all features, and passengers of the UTS and Rail Connect systems can sign in with their existing logins. Multiple authentication options have been added to improve access.
SwaRail remains in beta testing. IRCTC says it will refine the platform and add functions based on user feedback.
