Hyderabad Airport Logs Highest Passenger Day on June 1
Hyderabad Airport handled 2.6 million flyers in June 2025, adding new routes and setting traffic records. New awards and cargo plans also announced.

Passenger traffic at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad maintained its growth momentum in June 2025, continuing a positive trajectory established since November 2024. GMR Airports Limited reported consistent performance across passenger movement, cargo logistics, and sustainability initiatives.
According to GMR's monthly traffic data, the airport served 2.6 million passengers in June, marking a 15.3 per cent increase over the same month last year. Domestic travel led the surge with 2.2 million flyers, up 17.9 per cent year-on-year. International traffic grew to 0.44 million, a 3.8 per cent rise. The airport also recorded its highest-ever single-day passenger count on June 1, with nearly 97,000 travelers.
In the first quarter of FY26, RGIA handled 8.1 million passengers, up 17.1 per cent from Q1 FY25. Domestic volume reached 6.7 million, while international traffic stood at 1.3 million, showing strong gains across segments.
Aircraft movements also reflected operational expansion. The airport recorded 0.55 lakh Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) during Q1 FY26, growing by 17.2 per cent compared to the previous year’s first quarter.
In a strategic development, Hyderabad Airport completed the acquisition of a 70 per cent equity share in ESR GMR Logistics Park Pvt. Ltd., making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Additionally, GMR Aero Cargo introduced "CLIMB," India's first loyalty program for freight forwarders, aimed at enhancing customer engagement in the logistics segment.
The airport expanded its network with 96 destinations, including 25 international ones. Ethiopian Airlines began new services connecting Hyderabad with Addis Ababa from June 17, operating three weekly flights.
Hyderabad Duty Free unveiled a collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, and the premium meet-and-greet service "Atithya" was launched to enhance traveler experience.
GMR Aero Technic, the MRO facility at RGIA, signed a three-year maintenance deal with Akasa Air for base maintenance services.
RGIA has been named the fourth fastest-growing airport globally in 2025. It also secured first place in the National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management 2024 under the Infrastructure and Construction category.
The airport achieved LEED Platinum certification for its terminal expansion and received accolades from ASSOCHAM for excellence in water conservation and climate change mitigation. It also launched India’s first integrated EV charging station designed for airline and ground handling operations.
