Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has suggested the team Mumbai Indians to make full use of experienced player Rohit Sharma. In the earlier IPL 2025, this captain was just used as an Impact Player.
No action in his form has been noticed during match fielding in several matches. For the upcoming season, Pathan on Rohit Sharma IPL 2026 role has said that MI must keep the 38-year-old player on the field and take benefit from the helpful leadership skills.
Remarkably, Rohit, under whom MI won five titles, was replaced by Hardik Pandya as captain of the franchise ahead of IPL 2024.
In his YouTube channel, Pathan, in a video, said, "The key will be his mindset and how the Mumbai Indians utilise it. Last year, he was used very well as an impact player. I believe it is quite important to spend time on the field. On the field, he can help the captain, and his mind is always working as a leader.
MI will use him as an impact player. But when you have a player who has been a successful captain and has won trophies, you should make maximum use of him. Bring him onto the field and leverage his leadership to the fullest”.
In the last two IPL seasons 2024-2025, Rohit has scored more than 400 runs in a total of 15 matches. He made 418 runs at an average of 29.86 with the strike rate of his performance was 149.29. He also scored four fifties.
On March 29, the Mumbai Indians will suppose to begin their IPL 2026 campaign with a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium.
