India backed a United Nations Security Council resolution expressing disapproval of the “egregious” attacks by Iran on Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan. They urge Tehran to right away cease hostilities. At the same time, all criticise its threats to shut the Strait of Hormuz.

The Security Council, with 15 members, is currently led by the US. They follow up the resolution on March 11, 2026, with 13 members voting in favour, none against. On the other hand, China and Russia selected to withhold.

India cosponsored the Bahrain-led resolution along with over 130 nations. The name of the countries are Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, United States, Yemen, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Zambia.


The India UN Security Council resolution Iran, which had a total of 135 cosponsors, reiterated its strong assistance for the territorial honesty and sovereignty. It also shows up the political independence of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

It condemned in the “strongest terms the egregious attacks” by Iran against the territories of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan and decided that such acts comprise a breach of global law and are a serious hazard to international security and peace.


The resolution destined any actions or threats by Iran aimed at obstructing, closing, or otherwise interfering with global navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, or threatening maritime safety in the Bab Al Mandab.

Mr. Waltz said in his gratitude that “And these consequences that the United States does not bring alone”.
