India has been added to the list of the top five nations granted passage through the Strait of Hormuz

Global oil and gas costs have surged after Iran virtually blocked the passage of the Strait of Hormuz. As per Strait of Hormuz India news 2026, a narrow shipping lane is offered in the middle of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Just about 20% of global oil and LNG is allowed to move.

Iran allows India ships Hormuz with five other friendly nations, which include the names of China and Russia. These countries can freely make use of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping. Mr. Araghchi said, "We have permitted certain countries that we consider friendly to pass through (Strait of Hormuz). We allowed China, Russia, India, Iraq, and Pakistan to transit".

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Minister made it clear that ships connected to other countries will not be permitted to cover through the planned waterway.

Mr. Araghchi also added, "We are in a state of war. The region is a war zone, and there is no reason to allow the ships of our enemies and their allies to pass through. But it remains open to others".

There has been a growing global oil supply route impact on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The US President Donald Trump is regularly warning Iran of severe consequences if it does not completely reopen the waterway.

Since February, India has made diplomatic efforts focused on ending the disagreement in West Asia as quickly as possible. It is ensuring the unimpeded flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz.
