YouTube Faces Major Outage: Over 2.9 Lakh Users Report Video Streaming Issues Worldwide

On Wednesday, October 16, 2025, the video-sharing platform YouTube experienced a global outage that affected thousands of users worldwide. The platform that allows sharing of videos and watching ones' favorites went dark in several places including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, leaving users with no choice but to wait for the videos to load or just not play them at all.
Downdetector, which is a servce that monitors disruptions in online services, reported that by 8:05 p.m. (local time), nearly 293,000 complaints had been made just in the US. Most of the users reported issues with videos playing but even more mentioned grievances with accessing YouTube's main page or logging into their accounts.
🔹 YouTube Responds to Outage
In a statement, YouTube recognized the outage and communicated that their technicians are hard at work trying to pinpoint the problem. Yet, the company has not disclosed so far what started the massive outage or how long it might be before everything is back to normal.

Currently, Google, the company that owns YouTube, has not responded to the technical problem with an official statement or provided information on how many users worldwide were affected.
🔹 YouTube TV Users Also Affected
By the same token, YouTube TV proclaimed that it had made a temporary deal with Fox, which guarantees that viewers will continue to have access to the network's content during the time when the parties are negotiating the new contract.
The outage has most certainly brought dissatisfaction to the millions of Users of YouTube who are hard core, but it is said that the situation was slowly getting back to normal by night time.
