On Thursday, Xiaomi in China officially revealed its latest wearable, the Xiaomi Watch 5, which is the latest product in the company's smartwatches series. The announcement was made at the same time as the unveiling of the flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, and the Xiaomi Buds 6.
Xiaomi Watch 5 offers multiple health and fitness monitoring accessories like tracking of the heart rate, blood oxygen levels through SpO2, and ECG functions. Moreover, the product is equipped with an EMG sensor, which is a first for the Xiaomi wearables, and enables the user to track muscle activity.
CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 15,000) is the cost for the common Xiaomi Watch 5, while the eSIM version is priced at CNY 2,299 (about Rs. 29,000). Pre-orders have started on Xiaomi’s official online store in China. Consumers have the freedom to select from four strap choices: Black Fluoroelastane, Khaki Green Fluoropolymer, Gold and Brown Genuine Leather, and Soft Blue Genuine Leather.
The smartwatch is equipped with a 1.54-inch AMOLED screen having a resolution of 480x480 and a pixel density of 312 ppi, along with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. The circular dial design features a rotating crown and a side navigation button for easy interaction.
Multiple sensors have been integrated into the Watch 5 from Xiaomi, including heart rate, SpO2, ECG, EMG, accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, barometric pressure, and ambient light sensors. Connectivity features incorporate Wi-Fi, eSIM, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, GPS, Beidou, GLONASS, Galileo, and OZSS.
The smartwatch is compatible with smartphones with Android version 8 and above and iOS 14 and newer. The smartwatch is powered by a 930mAh lithium-ion battery. In terms of dimensions, the Xiaomi Watch 5 is 47x47x12.3mm thick and weighs around 56 grams, thus it has a solid structure but with a comforting feel.
