Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 15 in India, introducing one of the largest batteries and biggest displays in its price category. The device features a 7,000mAh battery and a 6.9-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, targeting consumers seeking long-lasting performance and a large viewing experience in a mid-range smartphone.

The Redmi 15 starts at Rs 14,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version, while a higher variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs 16,999. The new handset is positioned against competitors such as the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite, Iqoo Z10x, and Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi 15 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor, a chip that competes directly with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050. The device is designed to handle multitasking and moderate gaming workloads while maintaining consistent performance and temperature levels.

The phone runs on HyperOS 2, which brings additional power efficiency optimizations. The battery uses a silicon-carbon composition, a technology inspired by electric vehicle batteries, enabling improved longevity and charging resilience. Xiaomi claims the battery will retain up to 80 per cent of its capacity after four years of regular use.

Beyond extended battery life, the Redmi 15 supports 18W reverse charging, allowing it to power devices such as wireless earbuds, smartwatches, and other smartphones. A 33W charger is included in the retail package.

Despite its large capacity battery, the phone measures 8.4mm thick and carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. The rear camera module is set in a metal housing, contributing to a sturdy build.

The smartphone features two 50MP rear sensors, with image tuning influenced by Xiaomi’s flagship lineup. The camera system delivers detailed photos with accurate colors, though some lighting scenarios may challenge exposure control. An 8MP front camera supports selfies and video calls.

The 6.9-inch display supports a 144Hz refresh rate on compatible apps. With a focus on entertainment, messaging, and productivity, the device is built to cater to a wide range of user needs.

The Redmi 15 also includes AI-powered tools such as Circle to Search and Gemini integration.
