Xiaomi has made a grand announcement of the 17 Ultra smartphone in China and thereby taking a step forward in the top-end smartphone market. The phone has also created a buzz because of its state-of-the-art Leica camera which is intended to further enhance the already firm position of Xiaomi in the field of smartphone photography.

On the other hand, Vivo keeps working to turn up the heat on Zeiss-based optics in its flagship range. The X300 Pro, though not called “Ultra,” is very much in the race as far as the camera is concerned and thus, the two models are being compared frequently.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in China at a price of 6,999 yuan (approximately Rs 89,400) for the 12GB + 512GB version, while the most expensive 16GB + 1TB variant comes at a price of CNY 8,499 (around Rs 1.06 lakh). The Vivo X300 Pro is available in India in a 16GB + 512GB configuration and is priced at Rs 1,09,999.

Like its predecessor, the 15 Ultra, the 17 Ultra sports a flat-panel design with a circular camera module that contains three lenses. The weight of the device is 224 grams and its thickness is 8.29mm, having the ratings of IP66, IP68, and IP69. The main display of the phone is 6.9 inches and it has a 1.5K LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and the screen is protected by the Dragon Crystal glass.

Vivo X300 Pro has a circular camera with flat display. It has a huge battery that does not cause any increase in weight, and it is IP68 and IP69 certified. Its 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel is capable of 120Hz refresh and the display is protected with Armor Glass.

Vivo has provided the X300 Pro with the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor and has also offered the same RAM and storage options as Xiaomi. The device is equipped with OriginOS 6 and guarantees five years of OS support.

Xiaomi highlights its Leica cooperation with a triple camera configuration made up of a 50MP main sensor with 1-inch OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto with continuous zoom. The front camera is also 50MP.

The Vivo X300 Pro makes this shared camera setup possible with a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 200MP periscope telephoto with OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. These two devices are both aimed at the photography enthusiasts that want a high-end mobile imaging tool.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a powerful 6,800mAh battery that can be charged at the rate of 90W wired and also 50W wireless charging. Vivo’s X300 Pro has a capacity of 6,510mAh and supports 90W charged and 40W wireless charged batteries. Both cell phones come with a charger, USB-C cable and case in the package.

In the world of premium smartphones, with the ongoing developments in camera technology and upgradation of performance by Xiaomi and Vivo, the competition is getting fierce. Meanwhile the customers get to choose from a wide variety of the best photography, powerful hardware, and long lasting batteries.
