Xiaomi has not only achieved great success with its latest flagship series but also has already made plans for even more ambitious ones, such as the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The ultra-premium version is rumored to rock a combination of four cameras, which may even surpass the specs of the Xiaomi 17 Pro.

Digital Chat Station shared on Weibo some leaks, according to which, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will come with an all-new 50-megapixel main camera. The sensor is said to provide in-sensor zoom at the sub-camera levels and this will help in making smooth transitions to the zoom lens. The first impression is that this sensor is of the size that is bigger than the one used in 17 Pro and the LOFIC technology is given for slightly increasing the dynamic range.

The main sensor will be getting the next-gen zoom camera and that camera might come with a 200MP sensor. This would allow for telephoto macro photography and multi-focal-length lossless zoom. It is a common opinion that the picture and zoom lenses will have the best dynamic range.

Xiaomi hasn't disclosed when it will be yet, however, it is speculated based on market trends that the unveiling would happen in the early 2026. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra's appearance was in February and hence it is highly likely that the 17 Ultra will also have a similar time-frame.

If the timeline works out, then the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be competing against the now-delayed Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung is assuming no major camera upgrades in its forthcoming Ultra flagship, this will be an opportunity for Xiaomi to attract and capture more audience and market share.

There’s one more thing to consider, and that is if the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will hold on to the company’s secondary screen trend. The past models that came before the Ultra, such as 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, integrated their rear displays into the camera bumps. But, according to Digital Chat Station, the Ultra might come with a round camera bump, hence the secondary screen being left out.

Samsung’s expected upgradation might be a little bit disappointing but Xiaomi can still make use of that situation to draw consumers’ attention to its offerings. If the Xiaomi 17 Ultra takes over the 17 series' popularity, it could challenge Samsung's authority in the uppermost part of the flagship market where Ultra models are positioned.
