Xiaomi 17 Ultra China Launch Dec 25: Leica Camera Features Revealed
Xiaomi 17 Ultra launches Dec 25 in China with Leica cameras, thin design, Starry Sky Green variant, and upgraded low-light photography.

Xiaomi made the announcement on Monday regarding the upcoming launch of its newest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in China which will be on December 25 at 7 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. IST). The event is named the Xiaomi x Leica Imaging Strategic Cooperation Upgrade and it will be the lighting of the successor of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra then the top-most smartphone line-up by Xiaomi will continue.
In the meantime, the company has shared some design-related details and images to show the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The back of the phone has the same large circular camera of the previous model although with a Leica camera deco in the centre. Teasing the photography improvements, Xiaomi has also announced the introduction of a new simultaneous telephoto optical system along with a major low-light performance boost.
The teaser image published on Weibo features the Xiaomi 17 Ultra displayed in two colors, black and white, which are fashion statements in the same line as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Moreover, the company let out a limited view of the Starry Sky Green color effect as it has been described by Lu Weibing (the president of the company) who says that it contains ore particles simulating the appearance of a starry sky. This particular model comes with the round and separated volume buttons and a flat 2D screen with smooth corners.
With a thickness of 8.29mm, Xiaomi proudly claims that the Ultra model 17 is the slimmest they have ever made. The first imaging samples have been taken to test its camera capabilities with ISO 64, shutter speed of 1/50s, and f/1.67 aperture settings.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra camera will be a triple rear camera configuration. The leading sensor is a 50-megapixel 1-inch OmniVision OV50X unit paired with a 200-megapixel Leica-branded periscope telephoto. In addition, more specifications and information will be revealed as we approach the December 25 launch.
