Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its Xiaomi 17 smartphone lineup before the month ends, and new leaks have surfaced that hint at key design choices and specifications. The upcoming series is expected to feature three devices — Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.
A render of the Xiaomi 17 Pro, shared online by tipster Abhishek Yadav, highlights a redesigned rear panel carrying Leica’s triple-lens camera system. The setup is placed inside a rectangular housing alongside an LED flash. Positioned beside the flash is what appears to be a third camera sensor placed outside the main module, while a small display panel branded as the “Magic Back Screen” adds a distinct element to the design.
Buttons for power and volume are shown on the right side of the frame, with an antenna band just above them. The leaked image also points to a metallic body with smooth curved edges.
On Weibo, Xiaomi itself posted teasers of the Pro and Pro Max versions, confirming that both phones will incorporate the secondary rear screen. A separate render of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max suggests it will follow the same design language as the Pro model, including the Leica-branded camera system and Magic Back Screen.
The company has also confirmed a major hardware upgrade. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing announced that the Xiaomi 17 lineup will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the first smartphones to do so. Qualcomm is set to introduce the processor on September 24 during the Snapdragon Summit 2025.
According to Weibing, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max will mark a leap in performance and technological advancements compared to the Xiaomi 15 generation,
