Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor is set to drive the next generation of flagship smartphones in India. Leading brands including OnePlus, iQOO, Realme, Poco, and Xiaomi have already confirmed upcoming models powered by the new chipset, signalling a shift in performance and efficiency standards.

Built on TSMC’s 3nm (N3P) process, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 offers marked improvements over its predecessor. Qualcomm reports a 23% increase in performance and a 20% boost in power efficiency. The chipset also brings enhanced CPU, GPU, and NPU capabilities. Additionally, it introduces the APV video codec, enabling higher-quality video recording—a feature likely to appeal to mobile filmmakers and content creators.

OnePlus 15

OnePlus is launching the OnePlus 15 equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The phone will feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, a significant step up from previous 120Hz displays. A triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel main sensor and ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 will complete the package. OnePlus has not yet revealed pricing or availability.

iQOO 15

The iQOO 15 is set to push display and performance boundaries. It will offer a 6.85-inch Samsung “Everest” 2K screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 6,000 nits, and a 3,200Hz touch sampling rate. Camera capabilities include a 50-megapixel triple lens, while a 7,000mAh battery supports 100W wired and wireless charging. The device will feature a colour-changing rear panel, but the launch date in India is yet to be announced.

Realme GT 8 Pro

Realme’s GT 8 Pro will combine the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a dedicated R1 graphics chip for enhanced gaming. It will include a flat 2K display, stereo speakers, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. Rumours suggest a 7,000mAh battery, positioning the device among the longest-lasting flagship phones.

Poco F8 Pro

Poco will introduce the F8 Pro with the new Snapdragon processor. While official specifications are limited, reports indicate a 2K OLED display, dual speakers, and a 7,100mAh battery. The F-series’ focus on high performance at competitive prices could intensify competition in India’s value flagship segment.

Xiaomi 17 Series

Xiaomi is preparing a global launch of the Xiaomi 17 series, skipping the “16” branding entirely. The lineup will include Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. The Pro model is expected to be Xiaomi’s most compact flagship with top-tier imaging features. Full specifications and launch details are yet to be disclosed.

The arrival of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 smartphones marks a major performance leap for India’s mobile market. With flagship features, improved display technology, and robust battery capacities, these devices are expected to redefine user expectations in the premium segment.
