WhatsApp Now Lets You Import Profile Photos from Facebook, Instagram

Meta-owned messaging giant WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to import profile photos directly from their Facebook or Instagram accounts. The update is currently being rolled out to select Android beta testers via the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.21.23.
🆕 What’s New in the WhatsApp Update?
Until now, WhatsApp users could only set a profile picture using:
Their phone's gallery
A live camera shot
AI-generated or avatar options
But with this new feature, users can now pull their profile image directly from Facebook or Instagram, eliminating the need to manually save and upload the image.
📲 How To Use the New Import Profile Picture Feature on WhatsApp
To access the feature:
Go to WhatsApp Settings > Profile Photo
Select the new "Import from Facebook" or "Import from Instagram" option
Choose your desired image
👉 Note: This works only if your WhatsApp account is connected to Meta’s Accounts Center, which manages linked experiences across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
🔐 Privacy and Security Remain Unaffected
WhatsApp has clarified that:
The feature is completely optional and disabled by default
End-to-end encryption for messages and calls remains intact
No data or message content is shared across platforms
🎨 More Personalization Options on WhatsApp
This update follows other personalization features rolled out recently, such as:
Dual profile images (standard + avatar side-by-side)
Animated profile picture effects
Custom background color options
These additions reflect WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to make profile customization more dynamic and user-friendly.
🚀 Rollout Status
This feature is currently available only for select beta testers on Android and will be expanded to a wider user base in the coming weeks.
