Meta has officially released a native WhatsApp application for Apple iPad users, enabling full support for its encrypted messaging platform on the tablet for the first time.
The rollout includes key features such as end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls for up to 32 participants, screen sharing capabilities, and seamless switching between the front and rear cameras during calls.
The iPad version integrates with Apple’s multitasking tools, including Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over on compatible models. These tools enable users to operate multiple apps simultaneously, respond to chats while using other applications, or continue messaging during web browsing or video calls.
The update also introduces chat lock for iPad users, extending WhatsApp’s privacy controls by allowing sensitive conversations to be protected with device-level authentication.
In addition to supporting audio-visual features, WhatsApp on iPad offers full compatibility with Apple accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, enhancing productivity and usability for tablet users.
Meta confirmed the iPad version leverages the same multi-device architecture used across platforms, ensuring real-time syncing of messages and media across iPhone, Mac, and iPad while preserving WhatsApp’s encryption standards.
Users can download the iPad version from the Apple App Store, and Meta is encouraging feedback to improve the experience across Apple devices.
