Google unveiled its latest Pixel 8 smartphone lineup during the annual 'Made By Google' event held on Wednesday. Featuring the formidable Google Tensor G3 chip, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro boast enhanced camera capabilities and an expanded array of AI-driven features.

One of the standout features made possible by Google's AI integration is astro-photography, enabling these smartphones to excel in low-light conditions, essentially allowing them to "see in the dark." Additionally, the Pixel 8 offers a suite of impressive features, including Photo Unblur and a car crash detection feature, among others.

"See in the dark" in Google's latest Pixel 8 series smartphones refers to their exceptional low-light photography capabilities, enabled by advanced AI and camera technology, allowing users to capture clear and detailed photos even in extremely dark or low-light environments.

The "Car Crash Detection" feature in the Pixel 8 series smartphones is a safety feature that utilizes sensors and AI algorithms to detect and respond to car accidents or collisions. When a potential car crash is detected, the phone can automatically initiate emergency calls, share location information with emergency services, and alert pre-designated emergency contacts, enhancing safety for users in case of a vehicular accident.

Furthermore, the Pixel 8 introduces a handy temperature sensor, ideal for checking temperatures while cooking or warming bottles. Google emphasized that this new iteration of the Pixel series leverages AI more extensively, with over two times the number of on-device machine learning models compared to the previous Google Tensor on the Pixel 6 series. This AI-driven enhancement aims to elevate every aspect of the user experience.

The Pixel 8 smartphone starts at a price point of $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro is available starting at $999. These new devices are set to hit the market on October 12th.
