Samsung is rolling out the One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series in multiple countries. In this beta version, the users are getting a preview of the new interface and the features that will be part of Galaxy S26 series, which is next year’s launch. On the other hand, some Good Lock modules are having compatibility issues, and early adopters are dealing with limited functionality.
People who are installing One UI 8.5 beta say that the Home Up and QuickStar modules do not open. It seems that QuickStar is grayed out and it is displaying the message: “We’re preparing an update, please try again when you see an update available.” Home Up, on the other hand, is showing an error message “This app version is not compatible with your new operating system,” which is preventing the users from getting access to its features.
Research done on Samsung’s Korean forums revealed that the problem is not limited to these two modules only. LockStar, which provides customization for the lock screen, and NotiStar, a notification management tool, are experiencing problems partially too. Some functions may not be working properly until Samsung pushes updates.
This is not the first time that Good Lock modules have issue during beta rollout. Software updates from Samsung have always temporarily disturbed the functionality of modules considering large interface changes.
Samsung has announced that it is already developing to make the Good Lock modules completely compatible again. Those who are testing the beta version are advised to keep an eye on updates because the patched versions are coming soon.
In the case of users who have not installed the beta yet, it is suggested that they should wait until Samsung resolves the module issues, so they can have a smooth experience. The same applies to those who are already using the One UI 8.5 beta, they will have to wait patiently until the updates come.
