The company confirmed that the new model will feature an 8,200mAh battery, a significant increase over the Y300’s 6,500mAh, marking the brand’s longest-lasting battery to date.
The device will also feature extensive durability upgrades. vivo said the Y500 carries IP69+, IP69 and IP68 ratings for water resistance, setting a new benchmark for waterproofing in its smartphone lineup. In addition, the device has earned SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and impact resistance and has passed military-standard environmental testing.
Marketing materials released by the company highlight a punch-hole front display design, a dual rear camera setup with a circular LED ring flash, and three color options — Black, Blue and Violet. vivo emphasized that the Y500 represents several firsts in the company’s smartphone development history.
Industry analyst Digital Chat Station reported that the Y500 is expected to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 chipset, replacing the Dimensity 6300 found in the previous model.
