At a time when flagship smartphones are expanding in size and weight, Vivo’s new X200 FE takes a different route by prioritising compactness without cutting down on premium features. Priced at Rs 54,999, this device targets users who prefer a powerful yet pocket-friendly handset.

The Vivo X200 FE is a small-sized phone by 2025 standards, measuring 150.8mm in height and weighing just 186 grams. With a matte-textured rear made of glass and an aerospace-grade aluminium frame, it maintains durability and grip. The device comes with IP68 and IP69 certifications, offering water and dust resistance. It’s available in Yellow, Grey, and Blue colour variants.

The fingerprint sensor, embedded under the display, is slightly lower than usual. It takes minimal time to adapt, and the overall ergonomic design is well-executed.

Vivo has included a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with support for variable refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It reaches up to 5000 nits of peak brightness, making it highly visible outdoors. The display delivers a 1.5K resolution and supports 10-bit colour depth and HDR10+, providing accurate colours and smooth visuals.

Although stereo speakers are integrated, the lower speaker dominates in actual audio output. Haptic feedback is sharp, aiding user interaction.

The device runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, supported by up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Despite being a previous-generation chip, everyday performance remains efficient. Multitasking is smooth, and apps open without delay.

In gaming, the phone delivers consistent 60fps in demanding titles like Call of Duty: Mobile. Thermal control remains effective even after extended play sessions.

The X200 FE features a triple-camera setup at the rear:

* 50MP main sensor (Sony IMX921, OIS enabled)

* 50MP periscope telephoto lens (IMX882), 3x optical zoom

* 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens

On the front, a 50MP camera with autofocus handles selfies and video calls.

Daylight images from the main camera offer excellent clarity and true-to-life colours. Portrait mode benefits from ZEISS optics and produces natural background blur. The periscope lens stands out for close-ups and portraits, delivering usable images even at 10x digital zoom. Low-light performance is serviceable, but the ultra-wide sensor struggles with sharpness and colour consistency.

Video capabilities include 4K at 60fps from the rear cameras, with decent stabilisation. However, panning footage can appear overly processed at times.

The phone is powered by a 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery. It can comfortably last beyond a full day on a single charge. Moderate users can stretch battery life to nearly two days. Charging speeds reach up to 90W via FlashCharge, bringing the phone from zero to full in under an hour.

Running on Android 15 with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15, the interface is lightweight and refined. Although some pre-installed apps remain, the overall software environment is cleaner than before. Key smart features include AI-driven tools powered by Gemini AI, like real-time translation, document summarisation, and transcription.

Vivo assures 4 years of Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security support, aligning with current flagship commitments from other brands.

The Vivo X200 FE manages to combine high-end features in a compact form without major trade-offs. Its strong camera setup, excellent display, reliable battery life, and solid build quality make it a competitive choice for users seeking a small but powerful Android flagship. Although it uses a slightly older chipset, its real-world performance remains smooth and reliable, making it a strong contender in the Rs 50,000–55,000 bracket.
