Vivo V50 with Zeiss camera set to launch soon: What to expect from the upcoming smartphone

Vivo, the renowned Chinese smartphone maker, is all set to launch its highly anticipated V50 series in India. The company recently confirmed the launch through a post on X (formerly Twitter), teasing the upcoming device with an emphasis on its photography features. Although the post didn’t reveal a specific date for the V50 Pro model, it hints that the Pro variant may have a separate release schedule. The base model of the V50 is expected to debut in the third week of February.
Vivo has long been known for prioritizing camera quality, and the V50 is no exception. The announcement included the hashtag “ZEISSPortraitSoPro,” highlighting that the smartphone's camera system has been co-developed with the prestigious German optics brand, Zeiss. This collaboration suggests a camera setup tailored for photography enthusiasts, promising professional-grade image quality.
Although Vivo has not disclosed all details, rumors suggest that the V50 may be based on the Vivo S20, which was launched in China last year. The device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, providing excellent performance for everyday tasks and more intensive apps. The V50 will likely come with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and ample space for photos, apps, and media.
The V50 is also expected to feature a large 6.7-inch quad-curved AMOLED display, offering vibrant colors and sharp details for a truly immersive experience. A 120Hz refresh rate promises smooth scrolling and fluid interactions, appealing to gamers and media enthusiasts alike.
When it comes to photography, the V50 is poised to impress. The device is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, with a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. This is an upgrade from the Vivo S20’s 50MP + 8MP configuration. On the front, the V50 will likely feature a 50MP selfie camera, perfect for high-quality selfies and clear video calls.
Powering the V50 will be a 6000mAh battery, ensuring that users can easily get through a full day of usage. The device is expected to support 90W wired fast charging, providing a quick energy boost when needed. The V50 will run on Android 15, coupled with Vivo’s FunTouchOS 15, offering a customizable and user-friendly interface.
Durability will also be a key selling point, as the V50 is rumored to feature IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, making it a robust choice for users who need a phone that can withstand tough conditions. With these features, the Vivo V50 is poised to stand out in India’s competitive mid-to-premium smartphone market, particularly among those seeking a camera-centric device.
