Vivo has launched the T4R 5G in India, a smartphone positioned below Rs 20,000 but carrying features usually seen in higher segments. The device combines a slim profile, quad-curved AMOLED display, and IP-rated durability, aiming to set a benchmark for mid-range buyers.
At 7.39mm thickness, the T4R 5G is claimed to be the thinnest quad-curved smartphone in the country. The design focuses on grip comfort, with curved edges that blend into the hand. The phone comes in Twilight Blue with a reflective finish and Arctic White for those preferring a minimal style. The front is protected with diamond shield glass, while the back uses a polished plastic panel.
The device features a 6.7-inch quad-curved AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1800 nits. Vivo is positioning this as one of the most immersive screens in its price category, offering edge-to-edge visuals suited for streaming and gaming.
Performance is driven by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset. The phone is equipped with up to 12GB of RAM, along with virtual RAM expansion up to another 12GB. AnTuTu benchmarks place it near 700,000 points, slotting it in the upper mid-range performance tier. Thermal control is handled by an in-built cooling system to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions.
The T4R houses a 5700mAh battery. Vivo claims one-and-a-half days of usage under mixed conditions. Charging is supported through 44W Flash Charge, enabling the battery to reach 50 percent in around 30 minutes.
On the imaging front, the phone has a 50MP Sony sensor with optical image stabilisation. It supports 4K video recording from both the front and rear cameras, an uncommon feature in this price segment. Portrait mode, night photography, and AI-assisted editing are included in the camera suite.
The handset carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, enabling underwater photography. The camera shutter can be triggered using physical buttons when submerged. A built-in water ejection system clears the speakers after exposure. Vivo also highlights that the device has undergone military-grade durability tests.
The T4R runs on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. Vivo has committed to two years of Android version updates and three years of security updates for this model.
For gamers, the phone offers frame rate optimisation and automatic Game Mode activation, reducing interruptions during play. Extended gaming sessions are said to remain thermally consistent.
The T4R 5G is priced at Rs 17,499 for the base variant during launch offers, while the 12GB + 256GB model is listed at Rs 21,499.
With specifications such as curved AMOLED display, IP-rated durability, 4K recording, and a large-capacity battery, Vivo is targeting users seeking a premium feel at a mid-range cost. The device aims to capture attention in a segment that is often dominated by performance-driven but design-limited smartphones.
