Vivo is preparing to introduce its S50 phone lineup in the Chinese market this November, as per a recent leak by the well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station on Weibo. This new series is rumored to contain the Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini, which already seem like a big leap forward over the current S30 series.
Vivo has possibly jumped ahead to the S4O, due to the tradition of superstition surrounding the number four in culture. Some initial disclosures suggest that the two S50 models will have AMOLED panels boasting 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rates. The standard S50 is likely to come with a 6.59-inch panel, which is a tad smaller than the one on its predecessor, while the Pro Mini is said to feature a 6.31-inch display with similar specs.
Vivo seems to be making an effort to endow the series with that much sought after elegance and premium look. Reports indicate that the series will consist of ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors and metal frames which might help to enhance the phones’ build quality.
The leaks suggest that the Vivo S50 may have a periscope telephoto lens fitted with a sensor that is as good as the 50-megapixel camera on the S30, probably with optical image stabilization. The Pro Mini version will supposedly have a triple rear camera with a periscope lens plus a 50-megapixel front camera for taking selfies. All these features indicate a possibility of zooming that is generally limited to the top-tier devices only.
The source mentioned, although he didn't disclose specific chipset information, that the S50 series might get processors of "flagship-level" with power ratings of more than 300W+. According to rumors, the Pro Mini might be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400, the same processor that was used in Vivo's X200 series. Battery capacity and charging speed have not been disclosed yet, but it is assumed that the series will continue the S-series trend with their long-lasting batteries and fast charging support.
The official price has not been announced yet, but the based price of Vivo S50 would be around CNY 2,699 (approximately Rs 32,000) according to predictions based on the S30 series. The Pro Mini could be priced around CNY 3,799 (about Rs 45,000), but this would depend on the available storage options and the camera features.
