Vivo, iQOO Phones Getting Android 16 Look — Is Yours on the List?

Vivo has confirmed the distribution of the OriginOS 6 update, its newest Android 16-based user interface, to the people in India. The update, which has already been implemented in China's market, provides a fresh design, performance gains, and more powerful AI functionalities. The new system will be available gradually on Vivo and iQOO smartphones starting with premium devices.
Vivo is going to reveal OriginOS 6 to the world on the 15th of October. After that, the rollout in India will take place soon, starting from high-end devices and gradually moving on to mid-range and budget ones. The company has stated that the update is aimed at making the user experience quicker, smoother, and more personalized according to individual habits.
The new OS 6 displays a translucent visual design that brings glass-like effects and layers. The system employs a new Gradual Blur engine to visually differentiate the interface items, while Light and Shadow Space feature introduces animation transitions along with dynamic lighting.
New lock screen alerts have been developed, and the interactive wallpapers are now also reacting to the movement of the device. Vivo's virtual assistant AI, Xiao V, is given a visual upgrade with new transition effects and animations.
The vast performance improvements have snuck in through the back door, as Vivo says they will be very noticeable. The manufacturer talks about 15% more efficient memory usage, 11% faster app opening times, and video playback that lasts up to 18% longer.
Background process management and battery usage are further refined resulting in longer efficiency during multitasking and gaming. OriginOS 6 Merges AI into Every App and Workflow
With AI now present in various apps and processes, OriginOS 6 totally revamps people's smartphone experience. Removing undesired items from pictures is the new function in the photo editor, Xiao V Memory 2.0 is the new management system for notes and reminders, and one can now use natural language to carry out searches in system apps such as Files, Notes, and Email. The main purpose of these innovations is to make lives easier and take data handling to the next level.
The update will first target Vivo's flagship X Series smartphones like the X200, X200 Pro, X200 Ultra, X200 FE, X200s and X200 Pro mini. The company’s previous top-tier models in the X100 and X90 families will also be eligible for the new software version. The foldables X Fold 5, X Fold 3 Pro, and X Flip will be included in the very first batch.
Moreover, the new software will be available for mid-range phones in the V Series (V60, V50, V40, V30) and T Series (T4, T3). Even a limited number of devices from the Y Series, specifically Y400, Y300 and Y200, will be able to receive the upgrade.
The iQOO brand will also get the update, with the most advanced models iQOO 13, 12 and 11 being the first in the queue. The Neo (Neo 10, Neo 9) and Z (Z10, Z9) series will eventually receive it as well.
Users will be able to find the update in Settings → System Update as soon as the rollout starts this week.
