India’s national cyber response agency has announced an emergency for Apple users due to the uncovering of various security flaws across the company’s software platforms and, thus, an urgent call comes for the updating of devices.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, popularly referred to as CERT-In, has reported the vulnerable points that are affecting numerous Apple operating systems and apps and are putting the users’ computers at risk of hacking if they do not update their systems. The warning, which is attributed to CIAD-2025-0054, has been given a high severity rating.

The agency claims that the bugs that have been located are in the areas of mobile, desktop, and wearable software of Apple. If the issues are exploited, they could let criminals run their own code, get higher permissions, bypass security controls, and cause service interruptions. In some cases, access to the user's private data may also be possible.

The alert includes all the Apple software that was released before the newest security updates. The devices that run previous versions of iOS and iPadOS, older macOS including Tahoe, Sequoia, and Sonoma, and the current versions of tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, the Safari browser are all within the risk area.

According to CERT-In, the risks are not confined only to one category of the device but rather the attack area is broadened for those relying on Apple for communication, payments, cloud access, and work operations.

Cybersecurity experts have warned that postponing the updates would result in higher vulnerability to issues like malware intrusion, impersonation attempts, memory corruption, and denial-of-service attacks. For companies, compromised endpoints can also lead to the disruption of not just the internal systems but also the connected networks。

The agency strongly recommended that everyone should immediately carry out the installation of Apple’s latest software patches. The updates can be accessed through the normal software update section of the respective devices iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. Besides, the users of Mac were encouraged to check their Safari browser and make sure it is running on the latest supported version.

CERT-In mentioned that the advisory was meant for all users in general but those who are dealing with confidential data or managing enterprise infrastructure should consider the update a significant priority.

The agency stressed that regular software updates are a main security method and not an optional enhancement, and they are still very important in the protection of data and the stability of the system.
