Update Alert: Nothing OS 4.0 for Phone 3 Series Temporarily Stopped

Nothing has apparently halted the distribution of its Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 update to several devices, after users' feedback pointed to issues. The update was first released to the Nothing Phone 3 users, after which it was made available for the Phone 3a and Phone 2a models.
A post on Reddit mentions a Phone 3 user seeking information on the update schedule from Nothing support. The support reply hinted that the company has put a stop to the current rollout temporarily to fix the unexpected issues. The users who have already updated their devices will get the patched version once the problems are sorted out.
The company has not revealed the specific technical issues that caused the hold-up. The Android 16-based update had been in beta testing for about a month before the official release this month. Users of Phone 3, Phone 3a, and 3a Pro were the first ones to get a stable version of the OS.
The new Nothing OS 4.0 adds many noteworthy functions, one of which is the upgrade of the Glyph interface. The Glyph interface utilizes the small backlight display for notifications and tracking the upload/download process. The new Live Updates feature enables on-the-spot monitoring for rides, deliveries, and timers right on the Glyph screen so that there is no need to open apps.
What is more, the update extends the list of third-party applications that can work with Android 16's Live Updates to include many more apps and thus more apps can get integrated with Nothing's Glyph Progress feature. A new system-wide Extra Dark Mode has also been advanced and it now improves the existing contrast, consumes less power, and becomes compatible with more native apps like the Essential Space and Launcher.
Nothing has confirmed that a new patched version of Nothing OS 4.0 is going to be released to fix the problems that are troubling the users who have not yet installed the update. However, the information regarding the schedule and the particular issues is still not disclosed.
