New Delhi: Telecom giants have lauded India's growth in the mobile landscape in the past decade, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has said that the government should accelerate its efforts to move from 2G to 4G and 5G at the earliest.

The the industry leaders must discuss beyond 5G where India should be taking the lead in developing its own standards," Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti Airtel, said.

Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said, "Indian telecom industry has been rapidly scaling up over the last seven years, from just about six and a half lakh base stations today to close to 23 lakh which is 2.3 million base stations in the country…. The digitization of services is bringing in new opportunities and also creating disruption in the society immensely. We need to cater to these disruptions, and the recent telecom reforms has brought many people oriented procedural changes.
