TCS market capitalisation crosses Rs 15 lakh crore

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services exporter, is gearing up to train its entire workforce of over 5 lakh software engineers in Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) skills. According to Siva Ganesan, head of TCS's 'AI.Cloud' unit, Gen AI is currently in its early stages as a business opportunity, with smaller use cases being explored. The company has already engaged in 250 generative AI projects, using the intelligence gained to enhance the efficiency of ongoing client work.

While the timeline for the significant transformation is uncertain, TCS is investing in preparing its staff for the future demand in AI offerings. The training includes both technical and non-tech skills aligned with the organization's broader goals. Ganesan emphasized the complexity and rigor required for executing Gen AI solutions, highlighting the importance of factors such as security, confidentiality, and careful system architecture.

TCS is confident in creating one of the world's largest AI-ready workforces, having trained over 1.50 lakh employees in Gen AI skills within

seven months. The company's chief technology officer, Harrick Vin, expressed confidence in achieving this goal.

As TCS focuses on AI's future demands, it remains in investment mode, emphasizing staff readiness and strategic partnerships. The company aims to navigate the evolving landscape of AI, ensuring it stays at the forefront of technological advancements.
