Apple is modifying its alarm interface in the latest iOS 26.1 beta, introducing a slide-to-stop feature to reduce the chances of users accidentally turning off alarms. The update is currently available in iOS 26.1 Beta 2 and aims to improve morning wake-up reliability for iPhone users.

In the current iOS 26, alarms display two buttons when activated: "snooze" and "stop." These buttons are relatively large, and users may inadvertently tap "stop" instead of "snooze," resulting in missed alarms and delayed schedules. The beta update addresses this by requiring users to perform a sliding gesture from left to right to stop an alarm, ensuring the alert continues until the action is fully completed.

This change comes after Apple expanded the button sizes in iOS 26, which inadvertently made it easier for heavy sleepers to dismiss alarms unintentionally. With the new design in iOS 26.1 Beta 2, accidental alarm stoppages should be minimized.

The update is currently part of the beta program, and Apple has not confirmed whether the new slide-to-stop interface will appear in the public release. Users participating in the beta can test the feature immediately.

iOS 26.1 Beta 2 is part of Apple's ongoing effort to refine core iPhone functionalities.
