With the launch of iOS 26, Apple Maps on iPhones now tracks users' movements by default. The new "Visited Places" feature records places that you often go to, so it aims to make it easier to revisit places or share addresses.
Maps app for iPhone includes the feature that prepares a list of places you went to. You can see, sort, and control these entries, make notes about them, or send them to someone else. Apple claims that the information is completely encrypted and thus privacy is a major concern. Still, some iPhone users are worried that the app will monitor their locations.
However, if you want to avoid Apple Maps keeping track of your visited places, you can simply deactivate the feature and erase the history.
Disabling the Visited Places
Open the Settings application.
Go to Apps and click on Maps.
Tap on Location.
Look for Visited Places and turn the toggle off.
After turning it off, Apple Maps will no longer record new location entries.
Erasing Your Visited Places History
In order to delete locations that have been previously recorded:
Use Apple Maps on your device.
Select Places and then visit Visited Places.
Go all the way down and pick Clear History, then confirm your action by hitting Clear All.
By completing this process, you can ensure that your previous location data is deleted and no further tracking will take place.
