A new feature called Quick Share has been launched by Google, which is aimed at speeding up and simplifying the process of file transfer between Android and Apple devices. This feature permits the users of Google Pixel 10 smartphones to send and receive images, videos, and other files from iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
AirDrop by Apple has always been the preferred option for fast file transferring in its ecosystem. Nevertheless, the sharing of content between Android and iOS or macOS devices has always been reliant on the use of third-party applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or Google Photos. These methods are usually reliant on fast internet and might result in file quality loss. Quick Share has come up with a solution to these drawbacks by providing direct wireless transfer just like AirDrop and without any impact on file resolution.
At present, the Quick Share feature is availed with the Pixel 10 range that consists of Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and 10 Pro Fold, plus Apple devices that work on iOS, iPadOS, or macOS.
The process of file transferring from Pixel 10 to Apple Devices:
• Quick Share Extension to be installed on the Pixel 10 device.
• The recipient must open AirDrop settings on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac and select ‘Everyone’ for 10 minutes.
• On the Pixel, find the file to be shared, tap Share, and select Quick Share.
• Pick the device of the recipient from the available list and then wait for the recipient to accept the transfer. The files are sent wirelessly in seconds.
How to receive files from Apple devices:
In order to get the files sent from an Apple device, the user of Pixel 10 has to turn on the visibility option in Quick Share:
• Switch Quick Share to Receive mode or set visibility to Everyone for 10 minutes.
• When the iPhone user selects your Pixel device on AirDrop, you will receive a notification showing the sender and file type. Click Accept to finish the transfer or Decline if you do not want it.
