AI startup Perplexity has announced it is integrating Nano Banana into its WhatsApp chatbot, aiming to extend access to millions of messaging users. The integration was confirmed by Arvind Srinivasan, CEO of Perplexity, who emphasized the startup’s goal of making advanced AI image generation more accessible beyond traditional social media platforms.

With this update, WhatsApp users can generate AI images directly from the chat interface. To use Nano Banana on WhatsApp, users need to save Perplexity’s contact number +1 (833) 436-3285, start a conversation, upload an image, and provide a prompt describing the desired edits. The bot then processes the request and delivers a generated image in seconds.

Perplexity has not yet clarified whether access to Nano Banana on WhatsApp will be fully free. Google currently provides limited free usage of its AI models, with paid subscriptions allowing broader access. A similar model is expected for the WhatsApp integration.

The move positions Perplexity as a direct competitor to Meta AI’s suite of features on messaging platforms, offering an alternative for users seeking high-quality AI image generation within WhatsApp.
