Elon Musk’s SpaceX is gearing up to launch Starlink 3.0 in India, promising internet speeds up to ten times faster than the current generation. Regulatory approvals from India’s IN‑SPACe and DoT are in the final stages, paving the way for a late 2025 or early 2026 rollout.
The upcoming Gen‑3 constellation will harness inter-satellite laser links and advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) tech to deliver 1 Tbps capacity per satellite, potentially reducing latency to under 20 ms—ideal for real-time applications like gaming, HD conferencing, and cloud services.
Initial Indian speeds are expected between 25 Mbps and 220 Mbps, with hardware kits costing around ₹33,000–₹43,000, depending on the model (standard or mobile mini). Subscriptions will likely start at ₹850/month (≈ $10) for promotional offers, rising to ₹3,000/month for unlimited plans.
Starlink has also teamed up with Jio and Airtel, aiming to deploy ground stations nationwide and streamline installations to meet local telecom regulations.
