What is Sora 2?
Sora 2 is the enhanced engine behind OpenAI's Sora app, a powerful and much-upgraded evolution over the company's previous tools for video generation. This new model brings in realistic audio; better visuals; better transitions between scenes; all toward creating cinematic AI clips.

How to Get Access to Sora 2
Currently, Sora 2 is available only through the Sora iOS app, with a limited regional rollout.

“The Sora app is available to download now. You can sign up in-app to receive a push notification when access opens for your account. We’re starting the initial rollout in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand to more countries soon.”
Users, once invited, may also access Sora 2 using the official website — sora.com. Anybody situated outside the U. S. or Canada would have to wait for special rollout phases or an official invite code.
Currently, there is no system in place for invite codes, as well as any announcements made on a global access timeline.
How Much Does Sora 2 Cost?
For now, Sora 2 is free to use, with “generous limits” that let users explore its creative capabilities without payment.
OpenAI notes that ChatGPT Pro subscribers will soon get access to an enhanced “Sora 2 Pro” model — featuring higher-quality video rendering and extended generation options — both on sora.com and within the app.
When Will It Launch in Other Countries?
The Sora app is alive and kicking in the U. S. and Canada as of the first week of October 2025, after not quite reaching shores across the pond in the UK or in any part of India. Ever so cool, OpenAI has promised a rapid expansion to other markets, so international crowds should keep tabs on the App Store and OpenAI’s official communications.
