Google has begun distributing the stable Android 16 update to Pixel users. But several early adopters have flagged operational glitches—primarily affecting gesture control and navigation functions—disrupting their daily phone usage.

User complaints have emerged on social platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, describing how the back gesture intermittently fails to respond. According to reports, models like the Pixel 6, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9 Pro XL are among those facing the brunt of the problem. Videos and detailed user threads show unresponsive back buttons and frozen gesture interfaces, suggesting a possible software bug.

A user named Artem Russakovskii posted on X, "Is anyone else experiencing a bug with the Android 16 stable update where the back system gesture stops working and does nothing sometimes? It's easy to fix but it happens again." He also included a screen recording of the malfunction, prompting others to share similar experiences.

Despite these concerns, the issue does not appear to affect all Pixel devices. Many users report no trouble following the Android 16 installation. This points to model-specific bugs rather than a system-wide flaw.

As of this writing, Google has not made an official comment or issued a patch addressing the matter. Until a fix is released, affected users are being encouraged to report the issue through the official feedback channels.

For those yet to upgrade, experts suggest postponing the Android 16 update until these technical concerns are resolved. Since navigation controls are central to smartphone use, any disruptions can lead to frustration and usability setbacks.

In parallel news, Google recently halted the rollout of its AI-based 'Ask Photos' feature due to performance issues. The company is reportedly conducting internal evaluations to address user concerns.

Android 16 also introduces a beta desktop mode for phones with external display capabilities, but this remains a limited test feature.

Until stability is ensured, Pixel users are advised to monitor feedback closely before initiating the Android 16 upgrade.
