Samsung is preparing for its major foldables launch event in New York on July 9, where it is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Industry sources now indicate that the company may also offer the first look at its long-anticipated tri-fold smartphone during the same event.

The tri-fold device, publicly acknowledged by Samsung earlier this year, may be showcased alongside new wearables — including the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup and the latest Galaxy Buds model. According to information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, the tri-fold preview is set to take place informally alongside the primary foldables reveal.

Samsung has been gradually increasing anticipation around the Galaxy Z Fold 7, highlighting its improved build, display, and features. Despite speculation, the company has not confirmed an "Ultra" variant for the foldable lineup this year. Instead, the emphasis remains on refining its flagship offerings.

The tri-fold model is expected to differentiate itself from Huawei’s Mate XT, which folds in a Z shape. Reports suggest Samsung’s version, potentially branded as the Galaxy G Fold, will feature an inward-folding mechanism. The device may carry a 9.96-inch main screen and a 6.49-inch external display.

Although the tri-fold device will not launch immediately, Samsung is likely to use the event to gauge consumer and market response before an official release later in 2025. This strategy mirrors the company’s earlier approach with the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was teased ahead of launch at CES and later demonstrated at MWC.
