Samsung's internal software has started to disclose some hints regarding the company's plans for 2026, thus providing an early glimpse into the already in-development phones. A new report, that was accessed by Android Authority, indicates new identifiers have been marked for six unreleased Galaxy models already, which makes a rough map of Samsung's premium categories for the next year.

The leaked software has three entries that are related to the upcoming Galaxy S series: SM-S942, SM-S947, and SM-S948. The industry trackers are of the opinion that these codes correspond to the Galaxy S26, a mid-range S26, and the S26 Ultra.

It is not yet clear what the name of the middle model will be. Samsung had re-used the “Edge” brand for a short while this year, but it was not pushed that hard. As the leaked list does not forecast an “S26 Edge,” the analysts say that Samsung might do away with that brand for the second time. The company may return to the Plus designation, but Samsung's choice will probably be decisive regarding the positioning of the SM-S947 in the lineup and the selling of it in various regions.

Past naming trends imply that the SM-S942 may signify the S26 Pro, while S948 is associated with the Ultra variant. Samsung has not made any public confirmations, leaving the mid-tier model as the biggest mystery.

The same software leak comes up with three foldable device numbers: SM-F971, SM-F776, and SM-F976.

These codes are being associated with Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE, the regular Z Flip 8, and the Z Fold 8, respectively. Thus, Samsung is seemingly ready to maintain its Flip–Fold division for another generation.

A foldable device with FE branding is an indication that Samsung might be catering to the segment of users looking for a foldable but are still waiting because of the high price factor. On the other hand, the Fold 8 advances Samsung's big-screen foldable approach in the flagship category.

One huge no-show is the new version of the tri-fold device from Samsung, which is projected to be launched in the current year. Experts think the company might postpone giving a second-gen model number until after getting sales feedback. The first one will probably be available only in a few select markets, which could be a reason why its successor is not mentioned yet.

There have been reports about a slim Galaxy phone that is a different story from the abandoned Edge project. However, that device is not included in this preliminary roadmap. More identifiers might appear as Samsung progresses through testing and receiving the final approvals.
