India is gearing up for the arrival of two flagship smartphones that promise to redefine mobile photography: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Vivo X300 Pro. While Vivo has already unveiled design and feature details, Samsung is maintaining secrecy, though leaks have revealed key specifications. Here’s a detailed comparison of what consumers can expect from these camera-centric devices.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 5500 mAh battery supporting 60W fast charging. Rumours indicate a 6.9-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Photography enthusiasts can expect a quad-camera array comprising a 200-megapixel Sony primary sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto, a 12-megapixel telephoto, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Unlike its predecessor, the S26 Ultra may adopt a distinct camera island design housing three of the main sensors. Colour variants are likely to mirror the S25 Ultra lineup.
Vivo has officially showcased the X300 Pro, blending familiar elements with fresh innovations. The phone features a circular rear camera module paired with a flat display and panel. A new Dynamic Island-style cutout appears on the front, marking a first for Vivo. The X300 Pro measures 7.99mm in thickness and sports a 6.78-inch flat display. Power comes from MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, making it the first smartphone to use this processor. Photography is led by a 200-megapixel APO periscope telephoto sensor, with continued collaboration with Zeiss Optics ensuring advanced imaging performance. Colour options include Wild Brown, Simple White, Free Blue, and Pure Black.
The Vivo X300 series is set to debut in China on October 13, 2025, with an Indian launch expected by late November. Pricing for the X300 Pro could begin at around Rs 99,999. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is projected to launch in India by mid-January 2026, with the 16GB RAM + 256GB storage model potentially priced near Rs 1,34,999.
Both devices are shaping up as premium photography-centric smartphones, offering cutting-edge hardware and innovative design features aimed at tech enthusiasts and photography lovers.
