Samsung is set to move forward with its Galaxy S26 lineup without introducing major revisions to its camera hardware, according to reports from South Korea. Industry sources suggest that the company has locked in the imaging specifications for its three upcoming models—Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra—scheduled for release in 2026.
Unlike the jump made in earlier Galaxy S series generations, the S26 family is expected to follow the path of recent models by relying largely on existing sensors. The standard version, likely to be marketed as the Galaxy S26 Pro, will continue with a 50MP primary shooter, a 10MP telephoto lens offering 3x zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide unit.
The new Galaxy S26 Edge is positioned to replace the discontinued “Plus” model. It will feature the same 200MP main sensor seen in the Ultra line, while its ultrawide camera will reportedly increase from 12MP to 50MP. This is believed to be the same upgraded ultrawide sensor introduced in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
As for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, no significant changes are expected in its quad-camera system. Sources indicate that even the 10MP 3x telephoto lens will remain, despite long-standing calls for an update to the compact sensor.
Although the hardware may remain static, Samsung is expected to lean heavily on computational photography to improve output. Advanced AI processing and enhanced software algorithms are anticipated to deliver refinements in image quality across all models.
