Samsung is rolling out a new AI-powered software update to older Galaxy smartphones, bringing features that were previously exclusive to its latest flagship devices. The One UI 8 beta, now being introduced to select models, introduces a personalized daily briefing tool called Now Brief, along with several other enhancements, at no additional cost to users.
The Now Brief feature, initially launched on the Galaxy S25 series, offers a streamlined way for users to receive key updates, including weather forecasts, upcoming calendar events, and daily reminders. In its latest form, the feature expands to include location-based parking reminders, curated YouTube suggestions, and an audio playback option for users who prefer listening to their daily summary instead of reading it.
The update is being tested under the One UI 8 beta program, with a wider stable release expected in the coming weeks. Samsung has confirmed that these features will reach devices as far back as the Galaxy S21 series, a move that extends AI-driven experiences to a broader customer base.
This rollout represents a shift in Samsung’s software strategy, as high-end features are no longer limited to the company’s newest premium smartphones. By extending advanced updates to older hardware, Samsung aims to provide longer-term value to customers while reducing the pressure for frequent hardware upgrades.
The expansion of One UI 8 comes as Samsung prepares for a busy product cycle, with upcoming launches expected to include new foldable phones, a slimmer Galaxy S25 Edge model, the Galaxy S25 FE, and a device currently under development known as Project Moohan.
For Galaxy owners who have held on to their devices, the arrival of AI-driven functionality offers a refreshed user experience without requiring a hardware upgrade.
