Samsung Electronics seems to have withered its Edge series of smartphones owing to the poor demand for the Galaxy S25 Edge, as multiple sources say. It has been reported that the Galaxy S26 Edge, which was originally in the making, will not be released under the Edge label.
A Samsung executive whose name has not been disclosed is supposed to have said that the sleek Edge design is not going to come back, as he said the series is "almost dead." He further suggested that the company is deliberating upon other formats for the S26 range, and the possibility of merging Edge features with the regular models is there.
In the past, the S25 Edge sales were considered slow by reports. According to Hana Investment & Securities, the S25 Edge had a shipment volume of 1.31 million units by August, which is a huge contrast to the rest of the S series: Galaxy S25 (8.28 million), S25+ (5.05 million), and S25 Ultra (12.18 million).
The sources, however, also pointed out that while the cancellation had occurred, the development of the Galaxy S26 was done, and Samsung might just sell the phone in another form. It is anticipated that the next S26 series will consist of three variants: Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra with the launch date estimated to be January 2026.
According to market analysts the Edge range that used to be a flagship trendsetter for ultra-thin, curved panels was eventually unable to keep up with the competition.
