Samsung is gearing up to introduce a smart new AI-powered notification summary feature with One UI 8.5, expected to debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The feature, which was created to make notification management easier, employs Samsung’s proprietary Gauss AI model to provide brief summaries of everyday alerts and messages, thus giving users a fast general idea without the need to individually check each notification.

The feature, however, was not found in the public beta version which means Samsung still considers it as a major functionality for its upcoming high-end smartphones making it a worthwhile feature to try out. The plan is to eliminate notification overload and thus make communication and productivity easier.

One UI 8.5: What’s New

Android 16 was the base for One UI 8.5, which is in the course of development and incorporates multiple upgrades, mainly in the areas of connectivity, security, and user experience. The beta version of the software is in the markets selected for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and gives a glimpse of what to expect.

Among the major changes are a completely overhauled Quick Settings panel that allows even further personalization of the toggle and slider options, plus a new look of native apps that take on the modern, semi-transparent UI elements. All this is done in order to make the interface more user-friendly and the navigation less cumbersome.

In addition, the update has brought very slight visual changes for alarms and notifications, like dynamic backdrops based on the local weather. Moreover, the integration of the different devices within the Galaxy ecosystem has been improved allowing for the remote access of files on other Samsung devices.

Stronger Galaxy Ecosystem Integration

One UI 8.5 enhances synergy between Samsung devices through features like Storage Share, allowing users to access files from the My Files app across connected Galaxy products. Quick Share has also been optimized to suggest contacts automatically using facial recognition in photos, speeding up file sharing.

For added security, users can restrict file reception to linked Samsung or Google accounts only, improving privacy and control.

Smarter Content Editing With Galaxy AI

The Photo Assist tool receives notable upgrades, enabling continuous image editing without saving multiple intermediate versions. This improvement streamlines creative workflows and offers greater flexibility during photo editing.

Galaxy AI has also been enhanced to provide smarter, context-aware suggestions tailored to user habits. However, the highly anticipated AI notification summary remains inactive for now, reinforcing expectations that it will launch officially with newer flagship models.

Enhanced Security and Privacy

One UI 8.5 introduces additional security layers, including an automatic screen lock after multiple failed authentication attempts using PINs, fingerprints or passwords. Theft protection features have been expanded to offer better safeguards against misuse.

Users will also benefit from more detailed battery health insights, including clearer information on battery condition and estimated lifespan—providing greater transparency and control over device performance.

Release Timeline and Availability

The One UI 8.5 beta rollout has begun in key markets such as South Korea, Germany, India, Poland and the United Kingdom. Samsung plans to expand availability to more Galaxy models in the coming weeks.

The stable version of One UI 8.5 is expected to launch officially with the Galaxy S26 lineup, anticipated to arrive in February 2026. Advanced features like the AI notification summary are likely to debut first on recent flagship devices, while older models will receive compatible enhancements based on hardware capabilities.

Samsung Health Updates

Moreover, Samsung Health is loaded with new functionalities such as the sharing of achievements, the tracking of antioxidant levels, and the use of meditation programs that are led by instructors. The primary purpose of these improvements is to ensure a constant watch over the user's health and to make the adoption of a healthy lifestyle easier.

Samsung with One UI 8.5 persists in progressing even further the incorporation of AI into its overall ecosystem and being the pioneer in creating a more intelligent, safe and smooth Galaxy experience.
