Samsung, Motorola, Vivo Lead Busy May Smartphone Launch Calendar
India sees a surge of May launches: Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, Razr 60 Ultra, Vivo V50 Elite, Sony Xperia 1 VII, Meta Ray-Ban glasses, and iOS 18.5 update.

The technology sector has seen a flurry of activity this May, with several leading brands unveiling new devices and rolling out key updates. From Samsung and Motorola’s new smartphones to Meta’s smart glasses and Apple’s software upgrade, the month has brought significant developments across the consumer tech landscape.
Samsung has initiated pre-bookings for its flagship Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone in India. The device is being marketed in three metallic shades — Titanium Silver, Jet Black, and Icy Blue — and carries a base price of Rs 1,09,999. Consumers placing early orders can access bundled offers such as no-cost EMI options, additional storage at no extra charge, and other launch incentives.
Motorola introduced its premium foldable smartphone, the Razr 60 Ultra, at Rs 99,999. The model incorporates the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and comes with proprietary AI capabilities branded as ‘moto ai.’ It features a 6.96-inch Super HD primary screen along with a 4-inch pOLED outer display, which supports a refresh rate of 165 Hz.
Vivo is set to expand its V50 lineup with the Elite edition, scheduled for an India launch on May 15. This device will join the existing V50 and V50e models. While detailed specifications have not yet been confirmed, the Elite variant is expected to carry forward key design and performance elements from earlier V50 models.
Sony has launched its flagship Xperia 1 VII smartphone in the Japanese market. The phone includes a 5,000 mAh battery, a 48MP ultra-wide rear camera, and runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The device integrates features derived from Sony’s Bravia TV and Alpha camera lines, enhancing its multimedia performance in audio, video, and imaging
Meta has started pre-orders in India for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which will officially launch on May 19. Starting at Rs 29,900, the wearable device is powered by Meta’s AI and offers capabilities such as real-time translation, on-the-go navigation assistance, and contextual audio-visual feedback.
Apple has released the final version of iOS 18.5 for iPhone users. The update introduces incremental changes including enhancements to the Mail app, a new default wallpaper, and refinements to the Screen Time feature. Major software upgrades are expected to be announced at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
