Samsung's newest clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 5G, retails for ₹1,09,999. It markets itself as a chic flagship for consumers looking for portability without sacrificing high-end features thanks to its elegant design, larger screens, and improved performance. However, some issues still exist in spite of the advancements.

Create and Construct

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 improves upon the classic clamshell design while keeping it. It is smaller than its predecessor, measuring 6.5 mm when unfolded and 13.7 mm when folded. In order to facilitate faster interactions, Samsung has also increased the cover display (FlexWindow) from 3.6 to 4.1 inches.

With a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits, the 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display produces vivid images. At first, the crease is not as noticeable, but with use, it becomes more apparent. When folded, the new aluminium hinge adds a satisfying "click" and feels more robust.

Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 offers modest improvements in durability, but extra caution is required because its IP48 rating still falls short of other flagships' IP68 protection.

Experience with Display

With improved navigation and sharper colours, the FlexWindow now feels more useful. Samsung still restricts the support for third-party apps, though; unless users activate workarounds through Samsung's Good Lock app, apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Gmail require the device to be unfolded.

The 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel is one of the best foldable displays available, with smooth scrolling, immersive gaming, and exceptional colour accuracy when unfolded.

Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 retains the same dual-camera configuration as the Z Flip 6: a 10MP selfie camera in addition to a 50MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The selfie camera feels unimpressive for a flagship in this price range, and portrait edge detection is still erratic, despite the generally good image quality, particularly with the primary sensor.

Although Samsung's Galaxy AI tools, such as Generative Edit and Audio Eraser, improve photo and video editing, the absence of camera hardware upgrades is a lost chance.
