Recent leaks point to Samsung's plan for the Galaxy S26 Ultra's camera system to be incremental tweaks rather than a complete overhaul. The flagship of the future generation is likely to carry most of the sensor lineup from previous Galaxy Ultra generations, with the main camera getting a wider aperture for better low-light performance.

The leaks also mention that Samsung is dealing with some of the long-standing problems, such as lens flare and skin tones that appear unnatural. Lens flare, which is visibly the most when bright light sources are photographed or when taking pictures in dark environments, has been a major issue for smartphones. Mitigating this effect on the S26 Ultra, Samsung is expected to introduce a new lens coating, using techniques already known from other manufacturers.

Moreover, the forthcoming device might not show the yellowish tint often found in human skin tones that are photographed by Samsung cameras. It has been reported that the combined effect of improvements in lens coating and use of new image processing will be the solution to this problem.

The S26 Ultra would not completely change the camera setup, but some gradual improvements are expected. The introduction of the Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec could enable the recording of RAW video at higher bitrates as a result providing, post-production flexibility to the creators.

Rumors suggest that the main camera will be equipped with an f/1.4 aperture that is capable of augmenting light intake significantly. Although this may lead to low-light photography improvement, it might also cause shallow depth of field, tricky focus in close-ups.

The 5x telephoto and ultra-wide lenses are presumed to have very minor changes or no changes at all. If there is a little upgrade in the 3X telephoto lens, its resolution will increase from 10MP to 12MP. However, no major performance jumps are anticipated.

Samsung is still behind in camera quality compared to some of the Chinese Ultra-tier rivals even with these improvements. The T26 Ultra's small upgrades might make it easier or more pleasant to use, but not to change dramatically its position in the luxury picture taking gadget industry.
