Samsung has reportedly begun rolling out the stable Android 15-based One UI 7 update to its Galaxy S23 series smartphones in India and select global regions. This update brings a host of enhancements and design changes to the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra models, which originally launched with Android 13 and One UI 5.1.

Key Highlights:

Android 15-based One UI 7 brings Gemini AI integration

April 2025 security patch included in OTA rollout

Edge Panels discontinued, replaced by the new Now Bar feature

According to a report by 91Mobiles, the One UI 7 update is now available over-the-air (OTA) and includes the latest security improvements. The update is approximately 5GB in size and can be accessed via Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Users are advised to restart their devices after installation.

Samsung had previously delayed the release due to a bug affecting the lock screen. Users are advised to temporarily disable lock screen security and clear the cache partition post-installation to avoid any potential issues.

What’s New in One UI 7?

The One UI 7 interface delivers a fresh look with redesigned buttons, icons, control bars, notification tray, and widget layouts. A more symmetrical home screen grid allows better widget alignment. Users can now resize icons, adjust widget transparency, and customise the lock screen clock and widgets.

One of the most notable changes is the removal of Edge Panels, a long-standing multitasking feature, which has now been replaced by the more versatile Now Bar. Additionally, Live Notifications offer real-time updates from apps.

Gemini AI Takes the Stage

Google's Gemini AI is now embedded into Samsung apps like Calendar, Clock, Notes, and Reminders. New AI features include:

Drawing Assist

Call transcription and summarisation

Smart scheduling tools

Camera Upgrades and Pro Mode Enhancements

Photographers and content creators will appreciate the improved camera layout with streamlined mode selection and enhanced zoom controls. The Pro modes now allow saving of custom exposure settings. Samsung has also introduced a “Best Face” feature and added support for recording videos while playing music.

As the update continues its phased rollout, Galaxy S23 series users can expect a more refined, intelligent, and personalised smartphone experience.
